Vedanta Jyotish

There is no better boat than a horoscope to help a man cross over the sea of life.
-Varaha Mihira

Before going into the detail of Vedanta Jyotish, let us see what it is,
Astrology:
It is the study/art of the influence of movements or relative positions celestial bodies on any behavior, activity or condition on Earth and their supposed influence on human affairs.
Vedanta Jyotish/Vedic Astrology:
The word 'Jyotish' is derived from the sanskrit word 'jyótis' which means 'light, heavenly body'. Vedic Astrology is an ancient Indian science which deals with celestial positioning and its overall influence on humans and other entities on earth.  The Vedic astology differs from its western counterpart in the method of measurement of Zodiac.

A brief history of Jyotish:
The origin of it can be traced back to Mauryan period(322BC-185BC).  The oldest surviving treatises, such as the Yavanajataka(oldest astrological treatise in sanskrit) or the Brihat-Samhita, date to the early centuries CE.  Indian Astronomy and Astrology developed together.  Many Rishis such as Bhrgu, Vashistha, and Garga were masters of astrology and taught it to their disciples in the Guru parampara.  Parasara rishi distilled essence of various vedic astrology schools present at his time into his text known as Brhad Parasara Hora Sastra.  Next, his knowledge was passed to Maitreya rishi.  After him it was humans like Varaha Mihira and Satyacarya, who preserved the line of Vedic astrology.  Varaha Mihira wrote a famous treatise on Jyotish called Pancha-Siddhāntika.
Now that we have seen the meaning and history of vedic astrology, it is time for us to know about the importance/significance of it.

Significance/Importance:
The late B.V. Raman's lifelong efforts led to the revival and spread of Vedic astrology across the world.
Before going into the significance let us see how it evolved:
Jyotish Shastra or Vedic astrology is envisaged by great ancient Indian scholars and salvias, while they were at their super-conscious state of understanding, with a through knowledge of cognizing life beyond the boundary of time and space. In their super-conscious state, they understood that the cosmological forces of the planets function like reflectors or transmitters in the form of light energy.  These light energies influence both living and non-living objects in the earth. It is assumed that the great rishis monitored this influence and conducted experiments on the basis of their observations and codified it into principles and standards which, in turn, turned out to be the laws depending on which Jyotish Shastra was evolved.
It is one of the most prominent methods of astrology to know about the intricacies of one's persona.  Astrology generally, predicts a person's future events(both good and bad).  Astrology reveals the prewritten destiny of a person, along with tips that can lessen the negative impact of certain events that are sure to happen in our life.  Those tips are nothing but parikara.   The success rate of those predictions is 70-80%.  Hence the predictions made by a well trained astrologer will definitely come true.  Hence it makes people wiser in their thoughts, actions,...etc., Because a wise will take necessary steps to overcome it.  One can only reduce the effect of the event that is about to happen.  No one can escape from it.
Astrologers are considered to be agents of these celestial bodies and plays an important role in maintaining wiseness amongst people.  They foresee one's future and aids them in doing parikara to reduce the impact any problem that is about to happen in his life.
Astrology suggests us the right time to do good things(like, buying a new car/house, right time erforming rituals, etc.,)so that it goes fine without any interruption.  It also acts as a powerful tool in understanding a new person's character.

A physician without a knowledge of astrology has no right to call himself a physician...There is one common flow, one common breathing, all things are in sympathy.
-Hippocrates

Karma and Jyotish:
The Navagraha, planetary deities, are considered to be subordinates to the Supreme god and are believed by many to assist in the administration of justice. Thus, these planets can influence earthly life.  The karma in relation to Vedic astrology can be explained with an understanding of the birth time of a baby. It considers the day, hour and location of the birth moment during which the celestial rays conjugate with each other in mathematical concord in relation to individualized karma. The horoscope based on Vedic astrology which reveals the consistent and defined past and possible future outcomes. The chart which illustrates our existing condition is a by product of our action and thoughts we have already done in the past. Vedic astrology offers an in-depth design of individual accessories, crisis, expertise, psychological inclinations and guides through the pathway which incorporates the understanding of Karma or Karmic philosophy.
Vedic astrology helps us to define the past and existing components on life in terms of karmic relations, and offers us a clear and transparent pathway to move our life in a better direction.
Conclusion:
Thus, If one have a little faith in Jyotish and act accordingly his life will flourish with peacefulness and happiness. And hence the world will become a better place to live in.
